Hello folks. I’ve been a fan of Choice-of-Games but yep, I decided to go the Ren’Py route to inflict–I mean–share, my skilled talents with the world.
I ended up making a demo for a lgbtq+ male dating sim.
If you’re interested, please check it out. I’ve used the various helpful articles from this site to help me map out routes to my game. The game will be available December 2013 and is called “Coming Out On Top.”
It’s another game being crowdfunded through Kickstarter. At the moment, it’s gotten a lot of support. Additional support is welcome of course, but if not, critiques from actual fans of the multiple-branching-storyline model would be excellent. I reflect there’s a nice chance you’ll adore the demo too if you favor m/m romance/games/fiction.
While the game is story and character based, it is an 18+ game due to some erotic content. Please review out the demo if you’re interested. (Link is on the Kickstarter site.)
And yes–the main criticism is not the writing so much as the reality all the guys look like models. I’m afraid that’s due the reality I just drew the guys that way before the game started getting popular. And
I'm not usually a fan of 3d rendered graphics, but it kind of works here? Strictly personal favor, and it bothers me when you have a conversation with someone and the scene jumps between two characters, but that's nothing on you.
Started up the demo and played through once (I think?*). I think my main problem with the game was that it feels inconsistent, and ended up just being frustrating.
The commencement of the game is really good. The writing is funny, and casual, and relateable. I enjoy Zack, and I fancy the way he talks to the player. It gets me all geared up for some engaging decisions and events. Encounter Braden and talking with him over dinner continues this trend. I wanted more.
And then... school starts. And it's extremely repetitive. I feel like I'm just grinding stats (Braden relationship points, attendance points) and clicking around aimlessly trying to find the right thing to persist. Even the text day-to-day is the same, and all of the Braden options seem to complete
