About performance
A gay bar in the middle of a city where violence and discrimination against sexual minorities are rampant - it has a secret dressing room of the mysterious drag queen ‘Orlando,’ who has lived for hundreds of years changing his genders. One day, the ‘Fruitcakes(customers at the same-sex attracted bar)’ hide in Orlando’s room because of a sudden check by the police, fearful and worried that if arrested, their identities would be revealed in the papers and they would be socially denounced. Orland starts to tell his story to them.
With the help of Orlando and the guardian angels Mighty Musicians, ’Fruitcakes’ embark on a storytelling journey of 2600 years that transcends time and space. They meet 13 historic sexual-minority people and experience their stories firsthand - Aristogeiton and Harmodius, a lgbtq+ couple who initiated democracy of Ancient Greece in Athens; Eleanor Roosevelt, former first lady and social activist who drafted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights of UN in 1948; and the versatile genius Leonardo Da Vinci.
