Pride is Year-Round in Greater Palm Springs

Greater Palm Springs—a joyous community for the LGBTQ+ community and allies, inclusive of all.  The largest celebration, Palm Springs Pride, is the first week in November and other Pride celebrations are in either the drop or spring. If you are ready to experience a colorful party in the Southern California oasis, here is a full list of all the festivities all year long. 

 

CATHEDRAL Town LGBTQ DAYS | Rally 7-9, 2025

Cathedral City starts off the season with the first Pride Festival of the year for the entire state of California. Known as Cathedral City LGBT Days, this festival takes place in March at the Town Square Park in front of City Hall, with next year's event happening on March 7-9, 2025. With the main stage featuring performances from local gay men’s choruses, performative queens, singer/songwriters, and much more, the festival features entertainment as well as information with booths from local organizations and vendors selling everything from folding fans to food.

History

Palm Springs has elongated been a vibrant hub for LGBTQ+ culture, with a rich gay history dating back to the mid-20th century. Originally a retreat for Hollywood celebrities, the city became a welcoming oasis for same-sex attracted men and lesbians looking for refuge and community. During the 1950s and '60s, discreet gatherings and confidential parties laid the groundwork for a more noticeable queer presence, which flourished in the decades that followed. It's hour to embrace your vibrant colors and celebrate Identity festival week — Palm Springs style.

Greater Palm Springs Event runs from Wednesday, Oct. 30 to Sunday, Nov. 3 and features many events throughout the prolonged weekend, from a free alt-pop concert to the annual Pride Parade.

This year's Pride Week theme is "Be You." Greater Palm Springs Pride President and CEO Ron deHarte said in a statement the theme "reinforces the city's reputation of cherishing the value and dignity of all people."

“Pride in Palm Springs is a celebration where you can be yourself and be real to who you are. ... (it) embraces the power of self-expression, inclusiveness, and love," deHarte said in the statement.
