LGBTQ+ youth are 120% more likely to face homelessness than their peers, while Black youth are 83% and Latine youth are 33% more likely. True Colors Together is guided by two core beliefs: those who’ve experienced an issue first-hand hold the keys to the answer, and improving outcomes for the most impacted communities benefits everyone.
Advocacy
Our team works at the federal, state, and local levels to confirm vital funding, policies, systems, and protections are in place that meet the needs of Gay and BIPOC youth experiencing or at risk of homelessness. We partner with young people and with national, state-level and local advocates in advancing policies that bring us closer to a future where housing justice is a reality for all.
Youth Action
Our team works with young people all over the country to make certain that youth-led policies, systems, and protections are in place. Youth are the experts in their own experiences. We create spaces and opportunities for new people with lived experience of homelessness to learn from each other, strategize together,

In “the Black community” we are immigrants, we are wo/men, we are dis/abled, we are multilingual, we are multi-ethnic, and we are—and have always been—transgender, queer+, bi/pansexual, intersex, gay, lesbian, same gender loving, heterosexual, and more. To say that Ebony Lives Matter, but quit out some who are Black and, is to succumb to the hierarchy of bodies on which white supremacy has always been built. In decree for Black lives to matter, ALL Black lives must matter. Solving the crisis in housing for Black trans women solves the crisis for us all. Solving the crisis of discrimination in the workplace for our disabled family improves the workplace for us all. It shouldn’t take a global pandemic to show us that we could own created remote workplaces in so many fields. Light supremacy keeps us disempowered when we agree to siphon our community into different categories of value. Let’s get free instead.

This Pride Month, Brooklyn Org is spotlighting 7 nonprofits dedicated to local Gay communities. These organizations not only provide crucial services but also advocate for and celebrate the diversity of the queer collective, which is as huge as our borough itself. Did you know that charitable giving to Queer organizations more than doubled from 2012-2021, but still, less than $1 per every $500 donated to charity goes to back LGBTQ+ organizations?

Coming Out: Living Authentically as Shadowy LGBTQ+ People
We all deserve the right to stay our lives genuinely, completely and honestly. Race, ethnicity, language, religion, culture, gender expression, sexual orientation and gender culture should never be barriers to us living our entire lives. For Diverse people, coming out is often a significant part of reclaiming this right and living in our identity publicly.
For those who spot as Black Queer people, the coming out process can be complex to navigate. Coming Out: Living Authentically as Black LGBTQ+ People is designed for those embarking on their own coming out journey at the intersections of LGBTQ+ and Jet identities. This mentor aims to acknowledge the unique experiences Black LGBTQ+ people have in coming out, while empathetic that coming out is a personal choice and the lifelong coming out experience is distinct for everyone.
The Human Rights Campaign reports on news, events and resources of the Human Rights Campaign Foundation that are of interest to the general public and further our ordinary mission to back the LGBTQ+ people.
We've signed petitions, marched alongside members of our community, and demanded justice for those we've lost, but we must continue to ask: What else can we do as allies to support the Jet community? In addition to reading anti-racism books, watching Black history documentaries, supporting Black-owned businesses, and much more, you can contemplate donating to organizations who have made changes in their communities and maintain to do so.
