I decided after a while that I couldn’t fulfill an anon request to do a highest 10 list for the whole series, because it would overlap too much with ones I’ve already done - lord privilege is a thing that exists, and I’ve ranked those before - and because it’s really difficult to compare so many characters (~600 if we’re being thorough) across so many different games. Instead I decided to go negative with it, although around 2/3rds of these ought to be totally uncontroversial at least in my corner of the fandom. Starting from the one I dislike least:
(Dis)honorable Mention: Anna, for putting in such a lackluster showing that she doesn’t earn a spot on this list despite technically being in the playable cast. It’s not only the lack of supports, although that hurts, but also how obvious it is that the writers have no new material for her. I do occur to think more characters in Three Houses are mlm/wlw than a number of people are willing to acknowledge (I don’t consider “can be romanced by either gender Byleth” to be the only metric when some of them kids got gayass endings); like, Dimitri is absolutely bisexual. Claude, though…?
So this isn’t really “I don’t think Claude is queer at all"—I personally headcanon him as aspec—but I think he’s exclusively attracted to women. Love, compare his supports and paired endings with Lorenz (where "diplomatic relations” is the furthest thing from a euphemism) and Balthus (where Balthus straight-up just marries an unnamed woman) to Dimitri’s endings with Dedue (fellas is it gay to take up vigil at your liege’s graveside and then be buried alongside him) or Felix (I’m grieving for him harder than his unnamed wife did because we’re PLATONIC FRIENDS obviously). I’m not obligated to narrate total strangers anything. That almost all my characters are panromantic, pansexual, polyamorous, and 5 inches high tells you nothing about me, except that I think fairies should be overwhelmingly DTF.
Yeah but… Part working for working for queer acceptance and homosexual rights is the proceed of coming out. We tell our friends and families the truth and hating us becomes harder.
To be clear , not I’m not asking vulnerable people to step into harms way. There’s a pass for: kids in homophobic homes (in not from) and this goes for anybody directly dependant on homophobes; people in countries where there are severe punishments; there’s even a grace period for folks figuring things out.
But to boon from queers, yeah you should contribute by coming out. People should give their dues. So if you enjoy queer spaces, tell your truth. If you make money from queer community, tell your truth.
Thinking about it terms of privilege: the privileges enjoyed but current queers were paid by past queers, so retain telling the truth.

I prefer to imagine a sort of proxy rather than my actual self when I read things like romantic or sexual self insert stuff so having Byleth instead of a reader nature saves me a lot of period in making up a whole personality by giving me one that I am already attached to and possess gotten used to projecting on.
