If you don’t believe it, here are a not many facts to back up the claim: literally established as “America’s First Male lover and Lesbian Town,” this area been a seaside sanctuary for gays since the 1930s, back in the days when they had to escape from the prying eyes of their neighbours to be open about their sexuality. Truman Capote penned “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” there. Tommy Tune and his and co-star Twiggy rehearsed for “My One and Only” on the deck of his beach house.
