Legacy of Belonging
Founded in 2011 as a grassroots initiative of On The Shift, LGBTQ Connection has grown into a regional movement led by and for LGBTQ+ youth, adults, and elders.Aligned with On The Move’s mission to evolve leaders and strengthen communities, we center cultural resilience, collective healing, and youth-driven leadership.
Guided by Indigenous standards and the wisdom of those who came before us, we create spaces where healing happens, direction grows, belonging is felt and futures are reimagined. We honor our ancestors' resilience, empower today's leaders, and build a future where everyone belongs.
The Challenge: Belonging Under Threat
Across the country—and here in our own communities—LGBTQ+ youth, especially transgender and nonbinary childish people, are facing escalating threats to their shelter, dignity, and well-being.
Today, 39% of LGBTQ+ youth describe seriously considering suicide, and 41% of trans and nonbinary youth say they feel unsafe in schools and public spaces. Rural LGBTQ+ youth, like those growing up in Napa and Sonoma Counties, often face these struggles with even fewer resources or affirming sp

The Homosexual Pride Center at Napa Valley College welcomes all Napa Valley College students and staff whether you identify as being part of the LGBTQ+ society, as a direct cisgender ally, or still not sure. This is a place for all.
The purpose and aim of the Celebration Center is to provide access to information and connection with community. Napa Valley College has a number of programs to back LGBTQ+ students and we invite you to take benefit of all programs and opportunities that interest you. If you are on a path of self-discovery, we are all here to support you.
Pride Center Locations
Campus Pride Center
The new physical Celebration Center is located in room 1014, on the bottom floor of the 1000 building. This space will officially open with the start of the fall semester on August 26, 2024. The Pride Center will typically be open on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 11AM to 2PM. Students and staff may plummet in during these times except for when the cosmos is being used for Pride Club meetings, trainings, or other reserved uses.

Pride Month, celebrated each June, shines a spotlight on the diverse experiences, triumphs, and challenges of the LGBTQ+ community. In Napa Valley, a program of On The Move called LGBTQ+ Connection is diligently working to foster an environment where these narratives are not just heard but honored, particularly focusing on adolescents and juvenile adults. The program has been an essential lifeline for the local society, and this Pride Month, we’re celebrating their necessary contributions. At Napa Valley Community Foundation, we’re pleased to have supported LGBTQ Connection’s work in Napa Valley with grants matchmaking app back to 2012, and we recently made a new grant to assist sustain their local programming.
The passionate voice behind LGBTQ Connection is Solicia Aguilar, who uses the pronouns she/they/he and identifies as Two-Spirit, a term used within some Indigenous cultures to recognize individuals who possess qualities of more than one gender. Solicia, the Program Director, is an unwavering advocate for LGBTQ+ rights. Their sympathetic approach, coupled with their firsthand experiences, underscores the organization’s mission to foster a healthy, diverse, and inclusive communit
LGBTQ Connection
More InfoLGBTQ Connection, an initiative fueled by youth and other emerging governance, fosters a healthier, more vibrantly diverse and inclusive people. Each year, LGBTQ Connection engages 3,500 LGBTQ people, their families and group, and trains 500 providers from local organizations across Northern California to boost the safety, representation and well existence of LGBTQ residents. In Napa and Sonoma Counties the program operates local LGBTQ community centers, supporting underserved LGBTQ youth and elders. The Napa and Sonoma offices of LGBTQ Connection each provide a sheltered and trusted vacuum to cultivate hubs of vibrant activities and caring community.
